PORTABLE TELEPHONES.
NEW GERMAN DEVICE. London, Jan. 10. A portable telephone has been installed in Berlin business houses at a trifling cost. The apparatus can be carried from room to room, and contact can be gained by an easy and ingenious device. In 1912 a similar telephone was installed in a Sydney restaurant in George Street. On calling a waiter and the payment of a small coin, the telephone was brought on a tray and connected by means of a device in the wall. It was then possible to get into communication with any city number or any of the in-■ter-State trunk lines.
