DELEGATES WELCOMED. By Telegraph.—Press Association Palmerston N., Jan. 25. A preliminary meeting of delegates to the Science * Congress wrs held this morning. Dr. Bett, president of the local Philosophical Society, extended a welcome and paid a graceful tribute to the memory of the late Kenneth Wileob, who practically organised the local society and worked hard to have a congress in Palmerston North. Professor Easterfield, who presided, laid stress on the value of the congress. Delegates split into sections and arranged the order of papers. An excursion for the benefit of botanists to Tiritea scenic reserve takes place thia afternoon „ The Science Congress, on Professor Easterfield’s suggestion, decided that durino- the session a special conference should be held at flaxmillers could attend to go into the question of disease in flax.
