NEED FOR DOMINION MUSEUM. By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston N., Jan. 24. At the adjourned annual meeting of the New Zealand Institute held to-day, resolutions were passed to the effect that the Board of Governors of the New Zealand Institute desires to urge once more upon the Cabinet the paramount necessity for the erection, with the least possibly delay, of a suitable building for the accommodation of a Dominion museum and library of the Institute. In doing this it Was pointed out once morc_ the Continued neglect of the Government in this respect, involving the risk of irreparable loss of many unique and priceless specimens and volumes which were still housed in unsuitable wooden buildings; that the Board of Governors are of the opinion that the Dominion museum would be ;fea,tly benefited by the placing of the institution under the control of a National Board of Trustees, and the resolution to be forwarded to the Government. Mr. T. A. Elliott was appointed bon. tMsurer in place of Mr. C. A. Ewen, the latter being obliged to relinquish office on account of ill-health. 9£ her officers were: President, Professor Easterfield; secretary, Mr. C. Aston; librarian, Mr. Allan Thomson; editor. Mr. J. Andersen; returning officer, Professor Senar.
