General Dyer, in an article in the Globe, says India does not want selfgovernment, because she does not understand it. To the massed millions of India the Raj is immaculate, just and strong, and if the present agitation results in bloodshed the first blood to flow should be that of Ghandi (the extremist) and his friends.—Aus. and N.Z. RIOTS IN INDIA. AMENDED LAND ACT URGED. Delhi, Jan. 19. The agrarian riots have again broken out in the Fijzabad district of the United Provinces. Several houses were destroyed, crops burned, landlords illtreated, and property damaged. Armed police were called out and 60 arrests were made. The Governor has sent a message asking tfor an immediate amendment of the present Land Act. Mr. Montague (Secretary of State for India) has cabled an urgent request for the fullest information.
