The Daily Mirror states the SubCommittee of Imperial Defence continues to discuss the question of big warships, but whatever decision is reached the naval programme will be submitted to the Imperial Conference. The paper adds: If Australia wants big ships in the Pacific perhaps she will be prepared to pay for them. The Morning Post says it is untrue that any decision has been reached as regards the utilitv of bio- vessels.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Asisn. DISARMAMENT SCHEME. LEADING POWERS SHOULD ICT. A TREATY SUGGESTED. Received Jan. 22, 12.15 a.m Washington, Jan 20. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee has amended and approved Senator Borah’s disarmament resolution, which now proposes the prompt negotiation of a treaty between the United States, Britain and Japan, by which these Governments will effect arrangements for reducing their naval programmes within the course of the next fire years.—Aus. and N.Z.
