CYCLIST hit by train. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hastings, Jan- 20. A man named Maurice was struck by A train while crossing the line on a bijycle. He is now in a private hospital n a critical condition, .with injuries to lis head. \ FATAL PLUNGE OF BUS. Hastings, Jan. 20. The adjourned inquest was held today concerning the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Hesketh, who was drowned on Januarv 3 as the result of a motor bus going over a bridge into the Karamu creek Reviewing the testimony, the coroner jaid that the evidence was in the direction of showing that all due care was taken. Edna Hart, aged 14. had benaved very creditably in rescuing a baby and returning into the water and rescuing two either children. She was a brave girl, and was to be commended for her action. A Native, P. H. Tomoana, jvho undressed and entered the river to .ssist, was also to be commended. The verdict was that death was due ;o drowniji?. caused by the bus accilentally falling into the river owing to ihe blocky of the steering gear.
