CATTLE FOR FIJI.
SENT FROM TzIRANAKI (From Our Own Correspondent.} Stratford, Last Night. A sale of considerable interest to Ta,ranaki his been completed through the agency of Messrs. Newton King, Ltd.’s Stratford branch. The transaction concerns a shipment of three Friesians —one bull and 2 heifers—to Fiji, where an effort is being, made to establish the dairy industry. At present no herds are kept in the country for making butter for export. The bull, Coldstream Pietje Pontiac, was selected by Messrs- G. A. Marchant and Sons’ stud at Cardiff, and ip addition to being a fine animal, carries some of the beet blsod procurable, both his sire and dam being bred by Mr, John Donald, Westmere, Wanganui. The heifers were selected from Mr. Henry Johnson’s stud at Kahouri Bridge, and are good types of the breed. They are sired by Alcartra Woodcrest Pietje, a bull who carries pure imported blood on both sides, and who is of Mr. Newton King’s breeding.
