V Stratford, January IS. The ordinary meeting of the Borough Council was held last evening, after the special meeting to discuss the halfholiday question. The Mayor (Mr. J. W. McMillan) presided over a full attendance. The question of dealing with tenders for boulders was referred to the wyrks committee, and the matter of painting the Town Hall was left for the general committee to report upon. Only one tender was referred to a special committee. Messrs. Sanderson and Judd’s application for an extension of their premises in Broadway North was left to the works committee to decide. Auctioneering licenses were granted to the following firms: New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. (2), Newton King (2), and the People’s i Auctioneering Co. GENERAL. Two splendid pedigree Jersey cows, which have been purchased by Mr. W. H. A» Mander, of Tauranga, from two local breeders, for the sum'of 400 gns., left Stratford this morning for Tauranga.
