MORE IMMIGRANTS.
ARRIVAL OF THE PAKEHA. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Pakeha, from London and Southampton via Panama, arrived here at 5 a.m. to-day and berthed at 2.45 p.m. tb disembark 854 immigrants. A fine voyage was experienced all the way. The vessel left London on December 7 and picked up at Southampton on December 9, when she sailed direct for Panama. Christmas Day was spent at Colon, where the passengers went ashore for the day, and then the Pakeha sailed direct for Wellington. Christmas and New Year festivities were kept up, and all on board enjoyed themselves. The vessel brought 854 passenger®, 590 for the North Island and the remainder for the South Island. With the ex. ception of a boy of 15 who died at sea from blood poisoning, the health on board was good, there being no sickness.
