VISITING LADY CHAMPION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, Last Night. Miss Ethelda Bleibtrey, the champion lady swimmer, appeared at a carnival in Napier to-night. In a5O yards invitation race Miss Bleibtrey failed in an attempt to lower her own world’s record of 29sec., covering the distance in 29 3-ssec. She also gave exhibitions of various strokes and diving. CHAMPIONS IN AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. 14 Sydney, Jan. 14. In a heat for the * half-mile swim Langer (the Hawaiian) defeated Longworth and Cotton, his time being 12min. 14 2-ssec. Beaurepaire won all the way in his heat, the time being 11mm. 54 2-s»cc.
