NEW SEASON IN FULL SWING. GOOD TARANAKI PROSPECTS. The slaughtering season has been proceeding in Ju 11 swing in Tara’haki since the commencement at the beginning of the present month. The Taranaki Farmers’ works at Smart Road are dealing with 1006 sheep and 70 head of cattle daily, and the management expect that the number of stock killed per day will increase shortly, particularly beef, which will be in good supply. Although the season commenced later than usual the total stock dealt with by the end of the season will probably be as much, if not more, than in previous yGars. The stock is showing good quality, though some is coming out rather pn the heavy side, owing to the delay in slaughtering. With regard to the shipping of the meat, the Taranaki Company will despatch 19,000 freight carcases of Government purchase by the Kumara, which is to load at New Plymouth shortly. This will clear the stores of last season’s output, and the vessel also takes 5000 freight carcases of new season’s killing.
