LOANS TO EX-SOLDIERS.
THE PURCHASE OF HOUSES. By Telegraph.—Press Association ’Wellington, Last Night. In a communication to the secretary of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association, which had asked the Government that loans to soldiers for the purchase of ready-built houses be not interfered with in the case of married men who have no homes, the Hon. D. H. Guthrie says that applications for advances to assist in the purchase of dwellings other than those in course of erection are to be considered only where special circumstances can be shown, and where the lapse of time in the erection of a buiding would inflict hardship. Land Boards throughout the Dominion, said the Minister, had been instructed to give careful consideration to all cases where special circumstances were claimed.
