FIRST FIGURES FOR PAST QUARTER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The banking returns so far received are remarkable for a great expansion of combined overdrafts and discounts as compared with advances, which are about the same as at December 31 last year. The free and fixed deposits of the Bank of Australasia and the Bank of New South Wales, the first returns in, amount to £11,058,105 this 1920 quarter, as compared with £10,385,075 on December 31, 1919, but the combined advances and discounts of the two banks reach, for the 1920 final quarter, £ll,157.712, or £1,000.000 in excess of deposits, and £2,387,731 more than the combined advances and discounts of December, 1919.
