A Sheffield Shield patch between Ne\* South Wales and South Australia commenced in hot, dusty weather. New South Wales won the toss and batted on a good wicket, making 304 in their first innings (Gregory 130, Taylor 61, Hendren 32). Whitty took two wickets for 47, A.
