The ship-owners state they have decided to make a fight against what they term the ever-changingfogreements asked for by the men. They say that even if the stewards’ dispute is settled ships will again be held up, because of seamen’s and firemen’s demands. The owners declare that until all budding disputes are overcome and there is a reasonable chance of giving the vessels a long period of uninterrupted service, there will be no move for a settlement on their part—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. UNION FINANCE STRONG. Sydney, Jan. 7. Mr; Moate, the stewards’ general secretary, stated that the members were preparing for a struggle to last months.
