OVER A MILLION IDLE.
UNEMPLOYED IN BRITAIN. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. London, Jan. 6. The unemployed in Britain are estimated to be over one million. The trade slump is shown by the British railways, whose profits from April to October averaged £1,300,000 per month, and November, generally the best goods month, was the lightest for several years, showing a loss of over £1,000,000, which would have been larger but for the increased coal output. The Brighton railway lost £40,000. —Aus.-N.Z. # Cable Assn.
