LOCAL BODY LOANS.
PREFERENCE TO URGENT WORKS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Prime Minister, referring to loans to local bodies, says that where an increase on the rate of interest fixed (5 J per cent) is desired applications will be judged entirely on their merits, and there will be no general rule. The work for which new loans are required must be of an urgent nature.
