The competitors include several from the North Island centres. Dr. E. Whittaker, of Palmerston North, who at present holds the New Zealand championship, is not defending the title. Details: New Zealand championship doubles.— First round: Mrs. Smith and T. Tomlinson defeated Mrs. Beanhind and E. •(. Ross, 26 to 12. Second round: Mrs. Richardson and R- CatlglJey defeated Mrs. Brabant and H. Ross. 26 to 6: Miss Smith and S McCullough defeated Mrs. Midgley and Mrs. Maddren, 26 to 21; Mrs. Barnes and T. McDowall defeated Mrs. Tyera and S. R Holmes. -2S to 11; Mrs. E. Smith and T. Tomlinson defeated -Vrs. Fletcher. 26 to 15; Mias (levard and Mr«. E. A. Johnson defeated Mrs. Middleton and Mr - Christie, 2U to 8; Mrs. Lili and J W Lili defeated Mrs. Wiggins and H. J Williams, 26 to 14. Third round: Mrs. Richardson and R. Caughley defeated Mi" Smith and S. McCullough, 26 to 19; Mrs Crawford and E. A. Johnson defeated Miss Gerard and E. A. Johnson, (?), 26 to 18. New Zealand championship. —First round: E. J. Roas (Christchurch) defeated Mrs. F. Ranks (Wellington), 26 to 4.
