THE DAIRY OUTLOOK

ABUNDANCE OF FEED. SIGNS OF RECORD SEASON “There is every indication for a very successful season in Taranaki from the producer’s point of view,” said a gentleman closely in touih with the farming industry in Taranaki, to a Daily News representative yesterday. “There is ar abundance of feed, and the hay crope will be very heavy, the spell of fine weather enabling farmers to get th< crops in. The outlook could not b« better.” The speaker remarked that though th< season had been a late one, the indica tions were that the present flush would easily make up for the bad opening. Ii the stock market the opening of th* meat works would create activity. Uj to the present there had been some un certainty, but 'buying was sure to b>. livened up now. Another gentleman interviewed re marked that though the season had not opened very well, on account of rough weather, and the cows had come in ther badly, November and December had been two good months for growth, the grass being of splendid quality. Th* cows had been doing remarkably well reports from the country districts indicating that dairy cattle this season are fairly free from sickness. Hay crop* harvested had been heavy and good, and providing autumn conditions are favorable, it should be a record season.
