PLUNKET SHIELD MATCH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The Plunket Shield match, Auckland v. Canterbury, was continued in very hot weather. Canterbury, in reply to Auckland’s 291, made 178 (Blunt 41, D. W. Reese 13, McEwen 10, Patrick 13, D. Reese, not out, 38, Taylor 32). Coates secured one wicket for 23, Smith 5 for 100, Player 3 for 33, and N. C. Sneddon one for 15. Auckland, in their second innings, have seven wickets down for 326 (Hemus 33, Horspool 16, N. C. Sneddon 23, Smith 28, Anthony 113, C. A. Sneddon, not out, 69). WANGANUI v. GISBORNE. Gisborne, Last Night. The Hawke Cup match was continued today. The weather was very hot, the thermometer registering 96.7 degrees In the shade. When play concluded yesterdaj’ the challengers (Wanganui) in their first innings had made 116. Poverty Bay (holders) made 171 for eight wickets. To-day the home teaun were all out for 182. Hyder took six wickets for 60. Wanganui’s second innings yielded 225 (Wood 47, London 35, Hyder 34, Gibson 33, Stapleton 32). McMahon took six wickets for 61. The home team has lost two wickets for 19 runs. WELLINGTON v. MANAWATU. Palmerston N., Last Night. Th© cricket match, Wellington v. Manawatu, was continued here to-day. On Saturday Manawatu made 197 and Wellington replied with 117 for 6 wickets. Continuing today Wellington defeatedl Manawatu by 4 wickets and 8 runs. HOROWHENUA v. MANAWATU B. Palmersjon N., Last Night. In a cricket match to-day, Horowhenua v. Manawatu B, the former were defeated bv 37 runs. WELLINGTON v. HAWKE’S BAY. ■Wellington, Last Night. The representative cricket match between Hawke’s Bay and Wellington resulted in a victory for Wellington by an innings and 17 runs. Wellington, in their first innings, scored 381, and Hawke’s Bay replied with 95, but gave a better display in their second innings, scoring 269 (Jacobsen 62, Davis 61, Kennedy not out 30, O’Connell 30, Stevens 22). Middleton took 3 wickets for 25 runs, Hiddleston 2 for 65, Hutchins 2 for 49, and Bray 1 for 11. C THE NOMADS ON TOUR. Christchurch, Last Night. I Playing Christ’s College Old Boys to-day. the Nomads made 169 for the loss of four wickets (Collins 27, Blamlres 61, HliKknarsh 38).
