THE DAVIS CUP
WINNERS RECEIVE THE TROPHY. ENTERTAINED AT AUCKLAND. By Telegraph. —Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The Davis Cup was formally handed over to the Americans at a dinner in the Town Hall to-night arranged by the Australasian Lawn Tennis Association. The Governor-General and the Premier were present. Mr. F. J. Glsen presided, and handed over the trophy. He proposed the tosust of the Americans and congratulated them. All the Americans replied Mr. Hardy remarking on the fact that they had had good management, good umpiring and good refereeing. Mr. Massey proposed the toast of the Australians. ■ In reply, Mr. Brookes said his feelings were mixture of sweetness and bitterness—bitterness at
parting with the .Cup, and sweetness by reason of the fact that it was going to a team worthy in every way to hold it.
