The Tokio correspondent of the Daily Express states that the Japanese newspapers are giving prominence to the discussion on a naval holiday in England and America, as they are convinced that if America forces the pace Japan must follow at any cost. They declare Japan is willing to co-operate in the limitation of shipbuilding. The Asahi Shimbun expresses anxiety a.s to what may happen if Britain does not renew the Anglo-Japanese alliance, but says a reduction of armaments is a better guarantee than alliances. —Aue.N.Z.
