THE HOLIDAYS.
BUSINESS RESUMES TO-DAY. Holiday-making continued yesterday throughout Taranaki, favored by a continuation of beautiful weather. The races at Stratford attracted a very large crowd, while in New Plymouth the foreshore and Pukekura Park were largely patronised. There were a number of parties for the mountain trip, and other excursions. For the majority of business people the holiday period ended yesterday, and business will he resumed this morning. Among the exceptions are the banks, which do not re-open till to-mor’ow. and some mercantile firms will continue closed for the remainder of the week. Land agents’ offices open again on January 9, and legal firms resume on the morning of Thursday, the 13th inst.
