RELIEF TO STRICKEN COUNTRIES. SYSTEM OF BARTER. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyrignt. Received Jan. 3, 12.35 a.m. London, Jan. 2. The proposal to establish an export credit insurance scheme, in which the Government will bear a proportion of rifik, enabling manufacturers to supply goods to crippled countries, has evoked widespread interest. Sir Robert Hc ne (President of the. Board of Trade) is consulting representatives of banks and insurance companies with a view to preparing a Bill. Yorkshire and Scottish woollen manufacturers and merchants are endeavoring to float an insurance scheme to send their surplus stocks of cloth to the collapsed countries on the Continent by a system of barter, which the promoters consider will overcome currency difficulties and revive the British woollen trade.—Aus -N.Z.
