Cable Assn. THREAT TO THE STATE. ATTEMPT TO CRIPPLE INDUSTRY Received Jan. 1, 7.5 p.m. Melbourne, Jan. 1. Owing to the shipping trouble and the Won'thaggi coal strike, train and tram services are being severely restricted, in some cases by fifty per cent. Reviewing the position, the Premier declared that the only alternative to these restrictions was to surrender the power of the Government to outside agencies, who were apparently bent on crippling the entire well-being of the State.—Aus. and N.Z.
