Mr. Willeynox, Controller of Wool Supplies, and an influential member of the Wool Federation, statea he hopes the federation will endorse the Australian scheme. Interviewed by an Australian Press Aas«;iation correspondent, lie said he considers the scheme wise, and that it would be to the interests of the whole textile trade. He added that it was to the interest of the British industry that Australian and New Zealand pastoralista should not suffer a setback. Abnormal conditions justified exceptional handling. He did not believe a further decline in values would improve the position by stimulating the demand for clothes, and consequently growers and manufacturers would alike benefit by the scheme, which promised less harm to British textile interests than others might,—Aus.-N.Z! The Yorkshire Wool Federation interviewed Lord Inverforth to-day regarding the wool position. The'deputation requested a complete explanation of the Australian proposal, and whether the British Government was sympathetic or whether it intended to resort to the expedient of selling its wqol stocks to Germany. After'what Colonel Willey, M.P., who wns the leader of the deputation, described as a full and frank discussion by bath sides, the deputation decided to report to the executive at Bradford tomorrow before further action is taken. It is understood the department is in favor of selling low grades of the wool stocks to.Gerniany and other Continental buyers on a long credit, but considers it impolitic for a Government department to participate i-i such a transaction, wbjeh could more properly be undertaken by commercial organisations.— Ans.-N.Z.
