RAILWAYMEN'S WAGES.

INCREASE DEMANDED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. G'hristchurcli, Dec. 22. Mr. Hampton, president of the national executive of the A.S.R.S., has returned to Christchurch, after attending au interview between the executive and the Prime Minister in Wellington. In regard to the bonus he stated that Mr. Massey promised to reply to the deputation after he had consulted Cabinet. A meeting of Addington workshop employees passed a resolution that: "This mass meeting is strongly of opinion the time has arrived for our executive to demand an increase so as to bring our earnings into line with prewar rates. Wo cannot fail to notice the vast difference in the increases of the salaries of highly-paid officials, such as judges, they receiving no less than £lO per week increase, whereas the wage-earner is granted the sum of 3a. Failing a satisfactory reply from the Government within a reasonable period the executive is requested to take a ballot of members with a view to drastic action being taken in conjunction with the other federated unions." A copy of this resolution is to be sent forward to all branches of the society requesting them to urge the executive

to take immediate action.
