The Shanghai correspondent of the Chicago Tribune says that despite the recent unification mandate issued by the President of China, the northern and southern factions seem to be drifting farther.,apart.
Snn-Yat-Sen, who recently assumed control of the Canton Government, telegraphed to Peking demanding the dismissal of all. military men, the withdrawal of the unification mandate, and that Peking should refrain from further fcre'gn loans. The Peking Government has declared the demands impossible, and notified Japan that neither the Chinese people nor the Northern Government would be responsible for Japanese loans made to Southerners,
