CHRISTMAS GREETINGS.

BUSY TIME AT POST OFFICE. HOLIDAY ARRANGEMENTS. The Christmas period is a busy one in the various brandies of Post OI)ii?e work, and the festive season this year, as usual, has been responsible for an increased number of telegraph messages. The figures are likely to be well up to the records of previous years, despatches since Monday being very numerous. The public would be well advised to present their Christmas greetings and wires before Christmas Ev» 60 as to ensure delivery. The mail and parcel branch of the service has been largely patronised, and the scene at the fi.P.b. counter at New Plymouth yesterday was a busy one. The number of parcels being sent by mail this year promises to be a record-breaking one. To-morrow the usual postal deliveries will be made, and on Christmas Eve a counter delivery of correspondence will be made for Sto St o'clock. This will also apply on New Year's Eve. Christmas Day and New Year's Day will be observed as close postal holidays, while on Boxing Day all branches (if the Post Office except the Savings Bank will be opon from B a.m. to lo'a.m. One complete delivery will be made by postmen on Boxing Day, commencing at 7.30 a.m. There will be no delivery on either Christmas .Day or New Year's Day. Mails usually despatched on Saturdays will be closed on Friday nights, December 24 and 31, at S o'clock'. On Boxing Day the usual despatch of mails up 'till 8 a.m. will be made.

Tlio telephone exchange will lie open continuously. The telegraph office will he open on Christmas Day from 10 a.m. to 10.30 a.m., and from 5 to 5.30 p.m. On Boxing Day (December 27) and New Year's Day (.Tammry 1) the hours will be from n n.m. to 12 noou and 7 p.m, to midnight
