Rumored that'Automoana was heavily backed away from the course for the race she won at Dannevirke. Wonder how the Tommies liked the limit dividend? With Cray in the saddle, Maniahera was beaten again af Dannevirke. These Manlapotos go well when they have everything In 'their favor, but they are a trifle soft when pushed hard.
Arthur Oliver is sending Statuette to Auckland, and Gray will ride Mr. Beatson's sprinter In tte Railway Handicap. Those who saw Statuette finishing fast behind Gloaming at Feildlng have been saving up their shekels ever since. Big money is being offered in Taranaki this season. The Taranki Cup will be worth a cool thousand, and the Egmont Club goes one better -with a £I2OO Cup race.
Final payments for the Auckland Cup "stopped" Wsky Eve, Walton, and Lord Kenllworth. Alaioha was the only (Wlttdrawal from' the A.R.C. Railway Handicap. The form of Prince Willonyx at Te Awamutit on Saturday does not make his Auckland Cup prospects look very bright, though tha imported horse should bo seen to advantage before the meeting closes.
Mr. J. B. Gaisford is bringing both Celmisla and Mattock to New Plymouth. Mattock may be given a run in the Welter on the second day. They will afterwards he railed through to Marton, where both-are engaged on New Year's Day. Taranaki acceptances are first-class, and augur well for the success of the Christines . meeting. Depredation and Admiration hold their places in the Christmas Handicap, and will nit want for admirers. The Flying Handicap looks very open. Dribble has earned a 7lbs. penalty, which brings her weight up to 9.1, which should steady her. Scrap o' Paper, Income, and Spanner all read! well, but. there Is ample room for a surprise.
