BRITAIN'S UNEMPLOYED.
WORK FOR 50,000 MEN. RECRUITS IN BUILDING TRADE. $J Telegraph.—Preai Awn— Copyright "Received Dec. 20, 8.6 p.m. London, Dec. 20. The Daily Chronicle states that the Government proposes that building trade unions should accept at least 50,000 exservice men, the Government agreeing to allow the unions a grant for every such man taken, with a guarantee against unemployment, and a liberal allowance for time lost and bad weather. —Aus and N.Z. (Dr. T. J. Macnamara. Minister of Labor, announced in the House of Commons that the Government was resolved to find employment for 50,000 ex-service men who are unemployed. Negotiations with the building trades unions had been protracted, but the Government would not permit farther delay. Work must be found.)
