FIRES AT TAUMARUNUI.

BUILDINGS GUTTED. By Telejrnph.—Press Association. Tanmarnnui, Dec. 20. On Saturday night, fire gutted a 17roomed house. The fire had a good hold when the brigade was notified. A woman 9ml her children and one boarder, who were in the house when .the fire broke out, escaped. . The origin of the fire is unknown.

The furniture was owned by Mrs. Carter, and the building by 'G. L. Winger. Both were insured. On Sunday afternoon there was a fire in Bowman and Carrington's cabinet works and I<\ T. Biwn's storeroom. Both wore gutted. * The brigade had a splendid water pressure, and saved a large block of buildings in the main street. The buildings and stock of the places burned were insured.
