|Tbe House of Commons debated the amendments made by the House of Lords to the Home Eule Bill, and have accepted the .establishment of Senates and the constitution of a Southern Senate, making it pre-eminently non-repre-sentative, but rejected the extension of three to six years during which the Irish Parliament must not revise the* electoral system. The House of Commons also rejected the House of Lords' proposal that the establishment of Irish legislatures should' be postponed until order waß fully restored.] POLICE INSPECTOR KILLED. SHOT WHILE WITH FIANCEE. Received Dec. 19, 5.5 p.m. London, Dec. 18. District Inspector Sullivan was killed in Dublin while walking in civilian attire with Ills fiancee, Miss Moore. Two youths came up and said: "Hullo, are you ready?" Then they fired a revolver in Sullivan's eye. The girl, with great courage, grappled with one of the. murderers and prevented his using his revolver, but the other fired again. The thoroughfare was crowded, and the murderers escaped.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. A BUDGET OF CRIMES. SHOOTING OF IRISH PRIEST. CASUALTIES IN RAIDS. Received Dec. 19, 11 p.m. London, Dec. 18. Evidence given by auxiliary police at a military inquiry at Dunnaway into the shooting of Canon Magncr, who was shot by a miljtary cadet, revealed that Cadet Harte was bordering on delirum tremens. Harte, after shooting Crowlew, approached Canon Magner, seized the priest's hat and threw it on the ground, and made the priest kneel on the road. He then fired at him, wounding him, and then he fired again, this time fatally. Harte searched the priest's pockets, scattering the contents on the ground. Constable Shannon waa fatally shot at °wanlinbar, and Sergeant Morahan was wounded. Two military lorries were ambushed at Mitchelstown. Two soldiers were killed and two wounded.
Reinforcements consisting of field artillery, .Scottish Borderers, and Yorkshire light infantry have landed at Cork. Several local bodies in Nationalist parts of l T lster have renounced their 1 allegiance to the Dail Firearm, and acknowledged the Local Government. Board. The S'ligo Corporation has also imrreridcred. A hundred Sinn Feiners ambushed a lorry load of police and militarv near Enmistymon. Four soldiers and two police were wounded, and two civilians were captured. Traces of Wood indicate casualties amongst the attackers. A party of raiders drove up in motor cars and attacked Foulkesmill barracks on three sides. After a fierce halfhour's fight they were driven off. abandoning a quantity of bombs and arms. —Aus.-N.Z.
