ACCUSED AN EX-MENTAL PATIENT By Telegraph.—l'resi Association. Wellington, Last Night. Charles Joseph Clarice, who is alleged to have been the driver of the motor car which crushed into several persons at the corner of Manners and Cuba Streets on Wednesday night, was charged at the Magistrate's Court with having caused actual bodily harm to Norman Beck under circumstances which, should death ensue, would render him liable to a charge of manslaughter. Accused was remanded till the twentythird.

Mr. Myers, counsel for the defence, asked that Clarke should be kept under medical observation, as it had beeu found necessary on previous occasions to detain himln a mental hospital.
