A SERIOUS CHARGE.

WITHDRAWN BY THE CROWN. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Dec. 14, 5.5 p.m. London, Dec, 13. The Crown withdrew the charges against Captain Plummer.

(Captain Plummer and W. J. Jones were arrested on a charge of attempting to defraud underwriters. The case arose out of the loss of the steamer Glendalough, near Belfast Loug.li. The Board of Trade inquiry found that the loss was due to the wilful net of Captain Plummer, acting in concert with William James Jones, the owner, who insured the vessel for £60,000, though the value, including the cargo, was only £17,000. "Jones recklessly and wickedly gambled, not only for money, but in the lives of men," added the judgment.)
