SUPPLY OF FLOUR.
NO SHORTAGE LTKEIA''.
By Telegraph.—rress Association.
Christehurcb, Last NiglH. A statement'relative to the supply of flour was made by Mr. W. ({. Maedonald, Government Wheat Controller, to-day. Mr. Maedonald said the latest figures relating to wheat showed that this year the millers had bought 3,824,000 bushels of wheat grown in the Dominion; Australia had supplied 1,555,000 bushels,, and there was a carry-over froßt tittt year of 519,000 bushels. This represented 6,202,000 bushels available for 1 gristing, irrespective of the quantities for seed and fowl wheat. The consumption represented an equivalent of 500,000 bushels per month, or a total for the year of 0,000,000 bushels. The distribution of stocks over the Dominion is fairly even, so there should be sufficient flour to last until the efld of February. The prospects were lor an early harvest. Wheat is expected to begin to come on the market in ttie third week in January. There is, therefore, no need for the public to anticipate a shortage, or any interruption in the supply of flour. '
