ENGLISHMEN v. COLTS.

The cricket match. New South Wales colls against tho Englishmen, commenced on No. 2 ground on a soft, tricky wicket, favoring the bowlers. Douglas won the loss and sent the colts in, the howlers using sawdust to keep a footing. Tie Colts' first Innings only produced 84, Waddington taking i wickets for 33 runs.

In the first innings, England has two wickets down for 422 (Hobbs 64, Hendrcn (not out) 203, Henrne (not out) 125). , When the Englishmen batted tho wicket had greatly improved. Hot weather with driving winds, has now set. In, mid It Is expected tho' test wicket will ho in first-class condition on Friday.

THE FIRST TEST. Sydney, Dee. 14. The weather is cloudy and occasional show ers are forecasted, gradually returning to December Weather.

The Herald's cricket expert says that the Englishmen will b e handicapped In the first test Inasmuch as they have had little practice, but will have the advantage If the wicket has not recovered by Friday.

SECONDARY SCHOOLS MATCH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. TJie match between King's College and Auckland Grammar School was won hy Grammar School by an innings and 25 runs. The Grammar School batted first and secured 247 Brldgena 21), Postles 46, Weir 40, Whelan 23, Badeley 82). Hard took five wickets for 47! Porter, 1 for 39, and Gee, 4 for 47.

King's College made 3*o In the first Innings and 142 In the second (Heard 23, Keegan 45 Murray 21). Badeley took five wickets for 27, and 4 for 42, Postles, 1 for 26, and 2 for 16; Whelan, 4 for 23, and 2 for 22; Macklow 1 for 27, and Brldgens, 1 for 17.
