RIFLE SHOOTING.

TARANAKI GROUP RIFLE MEETING. A GREAT SUCCESS. Despite rainy weather on the flrsl day, the No. 8 (Taranaki) Grup Rifle Meeting held at Hawera on Friday and Saturday last, proved a great and all-rouud success. The entries were on a larger scale than formerly, notably in the Senior Cadet classes, notwithstanding the fact that a large number of Senior Cadets attending secondary' schools were unable to enter owing to school examinations. In addition to (lie excellent shooting In evidence, a noldblcv feature was the cordial good comradeship displayed by all competitors. Hard work out of hours by the group staff and willing hr-lnc-rs from rifle clubs and Senior Cadet cnTjH-.ies enabled all preparations to bo cor.iiilc :! beforehand, and Bring commenced nt an early hour, and continued methodically and without interruption till 5 p.m. Good work In the secretary's tent enabled prizes and trophies to be presented as soon as firing ceased on both days.
