JAPAN AND CHILE.
A SLIGHT OX JAPAN. By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. Xew Xork, Dec. 11. It is reported in diplomatic circles that Chili and Japan are verging on an incident of considerable gravity, following upon a formal protest from Japan because she was not invited to attend the Magellan Strait 3 celebration. The protest stated that, because of Japan's importance in the Pacific, she feels keenly lh e slight, especially as two other naval Powers, Britain and the United States, have been invited to commemorate the discovery of the Straits.— Aus.-N.Z.
