At the free wool sale chiefly I'untas, Fn Iklands, and a small number of YVestrallan merino were offered, which mostly sold at prices abbui 10 per cent, below Government sales. A banking amalgamation is foreshadowed by the offer of the Peninsular and Oriental Banking Corporation to purchase the. ordinary shares of the Allahabad Bank, conditionally upon the acceptance of the offer by the holders of not less than 75 per cent, of the shares. Holders are also given the optiort of receiving shares in the- Peninsular and Oriental banking corporation.—Reuter.
