The annual sale of work held m the Parish Hall on Saturday by thu Holy Trinity Ladier Guild was a success in every respect, tliero being 1 a splendid attendance both during the afternoon and evening, The following ladies were in charge of the various stalls: P'ain and fancy work, Mesdames Good, Dixon, Rudkin, Judd, Alger, and Morton; produce, Mesdames Budge and Howard, and Miss Goodwin; flowers, Miss Porritt; sweets, Mesdames Robins, and Bridger Mesdames Richards and King were in charge of the tea room, being helped by a large number of assistants. The Sunday School children contributed a musical programme in the evening, the items being received with much appreciation- Mrs. E. S. R\thcr. furd, the secretary, worked very hard to make the sale the success it was, and in this respect she was ably assisted by Mrs. Middleton. The Methodist Church and the Pres-, bj'terian ClimttH both held their children's anniversary services yesterday, there being good congregations at all the services. At the Methodist Church the morning, afternoon and evening services were conducted by the Rev. L. B. Neale, and the Rev. J. W. MeKenzie conducted tlrt services at the Presbyterian Church. Some time ago a paragraph appeared in the Press to the effect that the plans for the new Stratford Post Office were practically ready, and that tenders were to be called immediately. CJp to the present however the district office of the Public Works Department at Stratford has not received the plans, but they are expected to arrive slurtly. Tenders for the erection of the new police sergeant's residence, in place of the present dilapidated building, are at present being invited. It seems a pity that the school swimming batiis in Stratford are not amiable to the public, as is the case in some of the other centres. During the warm weather the baths should prove very popular with many of the public, and no doubt with a little encouragement from the School Committee, a swimming club would be formed. The artnual concert of the Stratford School will be held in the Town Hall on Thursday in aid of the school funds. A splendid programme has been arranged, the first part consisting of .songs and choruses by the infants and older pupils, and the second part, of the operatta "The Land of the Rising Sun." This annual event is very popular with parents and friends of the children, and there is sure to be a large attendance. The programme will commence at 7.45 p.m. in order to allow of its conclusion about 10 o'clock. The box plan is now open at Grubb's music shop.
