The use of obscene language in public streets, trains, and trams is looked upon by Mr. Poynton, S-.yi., as a serious offence and one that must' be firmly dealt With. He mentioned hi 3 feeling on the subject to-day, when a man from the King Country, Duncan Kennedy (51), admitted having been drunk in the Welling' ton express 011 Sunday morning and having used obscene language. Accused was fined £2O, in default two months' imprisonment. Another man, John Greachy (42), who admitted having üßed obscene language in Customs Street when he was drunk, 'was fined £lO, in default a month's imprisonment.
