GREEK THRONE.
ALLIES' NOTE EFFECTIVE. CONSTERNATION IN ATHENS. KING'S RETURN MAY BE STOPPED. By Telegraph,—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Dec. f>, 5.5 p.m. London, Dec. 4. Mr, Martin Dorohoe, the Daily Chronicle correspondent, telegraphing from Athens, states that Greece is pleased at England's attitude regarding ex-King Constantine. The country expected far more exacting terms. There is little doubt that* the Greek Government, will agree to the Entente's regulations regarding no loans or treaties without the permission of England and France. The dismissal of Germanophile officers is a more difficult matter, for fifteen hundred who were dismissed by M. Venizelos have been reinstated, and the Government has even undertaken to reimburse their salaries. The question is, must they be cashiered again?
Constantine boards a Greek warship at Brindisi, lands at Phaleron Bay, and will make a triumphant entry into Athens, where he will stay a fortnight before he takes command of the troops in Asia Minor.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. Received Dee. 5, 6.5 p.m. v London, Dee. 3. Mr. Donohoe, whose earlier message was evidently based on incorrect information regarding t'..e Allies' intentions as published at Athens, telegraphed later that the Allied Note caused consternation, because something less exacting was expected. Cabinet will meet to decide whether it is too late to withdraw the promised plebiscite.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
