MT. EGMONT QUARRIES.
PROBABLE DATE OF SUPPLIES. With a view to securing some definite information for the local bodies of Taranjtki as to the date that supplies of road metal will be available from the Mt. Egmont quarries, Mr R. Masters, M.P., recently made representations to the Hon. J. G. Coates (Minister of Public Works). Mr. Masters has now received a reply from the Minister stating that he has looked very carefully into the matter and finds that a considerable amount of special machinery is necessary in connection with this work, and immediate steps are being taken to obtain the requisite plant. Mr. Coates states: "As you are aware, the conditions of supply are very uncertain, and it is not expected that an early delivery can be obtained. It will therefore be well on in 1022 before any metal in large quantities will be available."
