EGMONT BOX COMPANY. By Telejraph.—Press Association. Taihape, Dec. 3. l Members of the King Country Timber Workers' Union employed at the Egmont Box Company's mill, at Ohutu, decided at a stop-work meeOng to cease work to-night unless their demands are conceded meantime. INCREASE IN BOOT IMPORTS. Auckland, Dec. 3. Some figures indicating the extent to which the imported article is flooding the market 89 far as boots are concerned, were given by the Prime Minister last evening. The return recently furnished, he showed that for four months from July to October this year, 49,500 dozen pairs of boots valued at £492,450 had come from* overseas. For the corresponding quarter last year there were imported 15,220 dozen pairs, valued at £112,642.
