FRUIT NOW PLENTIFUL
AUSTRALIAN AND ISLAND. Large supplies of Island and Australian fruit have arrived for the Auckland market within the last, few days. The Mokola brought 600 enses of Fiji bananas and 300 cases of pineapples. The Kiverina, which arrived from Sydney on Tuesday, brought about 50 boxes of Sydney cherries and a like number of oranges. A heavy shipment of fruit from the Eastern Pacific islands was brought by the Talune On Friday evening, including 12,000 eases of bananas, 8000 case 9 of oranges, 2700 boxes of tomatoes, and 200 sacks of eocoanuts. The condition of the fruit in this shipinant was reported to be fairly good. The largest supplies of strawberries received this season arrived from the Auckland gardens at the city markets- on Tuesday. The berries were all in good condition, and sold at auction at about Is 5d to Is GVJjd a box. High-quality strawberries were sold at the fruiterers on Tuesday at priees ranging from Is 9d to 2s 2d a box. The ripening of the fruit was put back considerably by the wind and cold weather experienced a fortnight ago, but if the present warm weather continues the new-bed strawberries are expected to. come in mora freely.
