After he defrauded the public of £32,000 "Tiy a scheme warranted to pay one per cent, daily on all investments, Wells put the money into an annuity bringing in SO,OOO francs. The creditors demanded this, but Wells threatened suicide and so end the annuity unless ho war. allowed to keep enough to live on. The creditors have now agreed to give Wells £260 a year, and the Court assented to this arrange-ment,—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
