A cable from London states that Lord Bessborough died suddenly at a Birmingham hotel. He collapsed during a speech at a public dinner. A cable from Sydney says that Messrs. Brookes, Patterson, Heath, and O'Hara Wood, the members of the Australasian Davis Cup team, left Sydney for Auckland by the Maheno yesterday. The Rev. J. R. Burgin, vicar of St. Peter's, Onchunga, attended a confirmation service and choir practice on Wednesday evening and went home apparently in his usual health. At 1 a.m. a doctor was summoned and Mr. Burgin died at 3.30 a.m. He served with the 3rd and 4th Rifle Brigade in Egypt and France, and was gassed on the Somme. Sir Francis Bel! (the Attorney-Gen-eral) is booked to leave New Zealand by the Athenic in March next on a visit to the Old Country. While Sir Francis Bell is going Home, for private reasons, it is understood that should the', Prime Minister bo prevented from attending the Imperial Conference in June, the Attorney-General will, with the High Commissioner (Sir James Allen), represent New Zealand.
