Teams from the Inglewood and Avon Clubs meet on the Avon greens at Stratford yesterday afternoon In connection with the banner competition, and tte match resulted In a.win for Inglewood by ten points. During the afternoon, an exchange of c. urtesles took plaeo. Mr. R. McKenny Mori:on (vice-president), In the absence through illhealth of the president, Mr. J. Masters, welcomed the visitors to the Avon green, and mentioned that next time the Inglewood Club visited them he hoped they would bring a number of ladles -so that tl:ey,could hate some games of croquet with the Avon ladles, and also If there were croquet lawns at Inflewood, tho Avon players would be glad to go with the bowlers when they next visited Inglewood. Mr. P. S. Spurdle replied on behalf- of the Inglewood players, and expressed his thanks for the welcome accorded to the visitins team. He also congratulated tlje club on tiio excellent progress It I:ad made, stating 'lnl the green played exceptionally well, and with attention, should, in time, become the finest green In the province. Mr. Spurdle also remarked that it was a splendid .thing in the Interests of bowling that a second club had been formed In Stratford, and he hoped to see a keen and healthy rivalry existing between the two clubs.
