RIFLE SHOOTING.
TARANAKI GHOUP MEETING. At the group rifle meeting shots from all parts of Taranakl meet in friendly rivalry, anil in the various competitions test the nerve, will power, determination, and steadiness resultant from their training in the uso of the rifle. The group rifle meeting will be held at the Weraroa rifle range at Hawera on Friday> and Saturday, December 1U and 11.' Friday is to he entirely devoted to Senior Cadet competitions, and 011 the Saturday Territorials—(JHeeji Alusamfnirtfi 2nd (WWling-ton-West Coast .Mounted Rifics and lltli Itegiment (Taranakl IliHes)—and Defence ltltle Clubs each fire in their class. Many returned soldiers are members of Defence I; I ,fits Clubs, and will, of course, fire as representatives of clubs to which they belong Returned soldiers who arc not members of Rifle Clubs are eligible and cordially invited to enter and compete In events wltl-.llie Territorial Force, and a special trophy lias been donated by Unit.-Colonel XVeston, 11.50., to tiie returned soldier competitor scoring lite highest aggregate points in Ride Club matches. Thanks 10 the generosity of the business i.ien of Hawera and New I'lymouth, two challenge shields and two challenge cups, twelve trophies-, iwclve gold medals, and a great number of substantial cash pries are available for competition, and from service and from sporting viewpoints the programme i 8 in every way most attractive. It is hoped that 110 one will have any difflder.ee about entering. Provision is made for the miosl experienced shots as well as for the novices, who In addition to the chance of winning prizes will benefit by seeing the methods of the older hands. It is important that competitors send In their entry forms as soon as possible. Friends or relatives of the competitors and tl'e general public are invited to be present 011 the range behind the firing points.
